Wrinkle lines and folds appear as we begin to lose elasticity and tone in our skin. As a result the skin recoils and wrinkles. This is a natural part of ageing and can be accelerated by sun exposure. By using our facial muscles repeatedly, the skin overlying these muscles becomes creased and wrinkled over time. This is particularly noticeable on the forehead, around the eyes and in between the eye brows. Botox is short for Botulinum toxin type A which forms a very effective treatment for expression, frown and laughter lines. Botulinum is a protein that is naturally occurring and works by blocking the impulses to facial muscles, consequently restricting their movement. This causes the muscles of the face to relax, therefore smoothing out any dynamic wrinkles and folds, subsequently resulting in a more youthful and radiant appearance.

Forehead lines

Horizontal lines running across your forehead when you raise your eyebrows or exercise muscles of facial expression. Overtime these lines can become deeper and more pronounced. The aim of anti-wrinkle injections is to delay the onset of dynamic lines ( lines on movement) becoming permanent even at rest ( static lines), thereby delaying the onset of the ageing process.

Frown Lines

These are vertical lines ( 11 o’clock lines) which are found in between your eye brows and become apparent when you frown. Some people frown more than others and this can accelerate the ageing process.

Crows Feet

These are lines and wrinkles which develop on the outer aspect of your eye, they become exaggerated when we smile. They are caused by UV exposure and the associated loss of collagen and elasticity with age.

Bunny Lines

These are wrinkles seen on either side of your nose, particularly prominent when you smile or scrunch your nose. These are caused by overactive nasal muscles. Anti-wrinkles injections temporarily help limit the action of these muscles which helps to reduce these wrinkles.

Gummy Smile

A gummy smile is when there is too much gum (gingival tissue) or teeth on display when one smiles and can often make many people self-conscious about their smile. This is usually  secondary to over activity of the upper lip elevator muscles. By expertly injecting anti-wrinkle injections at specific anatomical landmarks, we can relax the muscle enough to drop the upper lip in a aesthetically pleasing fashion. Your consultation will involve a full face analysis by Dr A.H and be tailored to your unique and individual needs.
